Tribratanews.polri.go.id -Yesmil Anwar, a criminologist from Padjadjaran University, Bandung, implored the law enforcement to tighten their surveillance on the sea due to international drug smuggling.
Through his statement, Friday (25/3/2022), the international drug networks often use new methods to trick the law enforcement officers in finding new locations with minimal supervision.
According to him, this is the biggest challenge for law enforcement that these drug dealers will and can do anything to accomplish their goal.
However, Yesmil still appreciates the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in thwarting 1,196 tons of methamphetamine in Pangandaran waters, West Java. It is reported that the perpetrators carried out their transactions in the middle of the sea.
Yesmil emphasized that international network drug dealers often involve local residents. This shows that the international network has are fully prepared in conducting their ill deeds.
They involved the locals because they are aware and know inside out their own region. By involving them, the transactions will be much easier.
One of the reasons why Pangandaran is one of the spots to do drug dealings is because of the diversity of the routes that can be used in other areas.
In addition, Madasari Beach is part of a large tourist area. For example, from Sukabumi, you can walk along the coast to Pangandaran, and if you go north, you can go to Garut and Subang. So if the drug dealers took advantage of this, their transaction will be going uninterrupted, and these paths are only known by the locals
