Tribratanews.polri.go.id - The Indonesian National Police’s (Polri) Food Task Force ensures that food supplies remain safe until Eid al-Fitr, although the need for food will increase as the time drew closer to the month of Ramadhan. Chief of the National Police Food Task Force, Inspector General Helmy Santika, S.H., S.I.K., M.Sc., said that the price will also be safe, and said that the increase in food prices right now was caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“The impact of the international energy and food crisis, as well as the impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, caused of international food and energy prices goes up,” explained the Chief of the Food Task Force for the Indonesian National Police.

Regarding the increase in cooking oil prices, he revealed that the reason was because of the high price of Crude Palm Oil (CPO), which is the raw material for cooking oil. Then other commodities such as soybeans, sugar, and beef are mainly due to imports.

“Domestically, our discussion still revolves around the increase in cooking oil prices, which is more due to the increase in the price of CPO as the main ingredient for cooking oil. For several other commodities, we still largely dependent on imports, such as soybeans, sugar, and beef,” he explained.

However, the Two-Star General emphasized that the stock and distribution of food was safely under control until Eid day. He stated that this information was obtained from data shared by relevant stakeholders.

“In general, according to the data shared from stakeholders related to the stock and availability and distribution of food ahead of Ramadhan and Eid, we expect it will be sufficient,” he said.
