The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of Cilacap Police (Polres Cilacap) has successfully exposed the circulation of counterfeit money in the jurisdiction of the Jeruk Legi Police (Polres Jeruk Legi). The police arrested three suspects, namely LF, SF, and AR.
Cilacap Police Chief (Kapolres Cilacap) AKBP Eko Widiantoro said that from the three suspects, 25 pieces of Rp 50,000 banknotes with the same serial number were confiscated.
"The perpetrators circulated the forged money to buy goods and obtained the real money from the changes in the purchase of these goods," said Kapolres Cilacap.
Meanwhile, the disclosure of the circulation of counterfeit money in Gandrungmangu stems from the suspicion of fruit traders in the market when transacting with a buyer. When going to be checked with UV light, the buyer with the initials EN looked nervous and asked for the Rp 5,000 bill he used to be returned.
The fruit merchant then reported it to the security guard and secured EN. "The police secured the perpetrators of EN with evidence of 22 pieces of banknotes in the Rp 50,000 denomination. Of the 22 notes, there were 11 with the same serial number," explained Kapolres Cilacap
For the actions of the perpetrators, they are charged with Article 36 Paragraph (2), Paragraph (3) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 7 of 2011 concerning the Rupiah Currency with a maximum penalty of 10 years and a maximum fine of 50 billion.
