As part of supports to improve the Papuan economy, the Chief Unit of Community Development (Binmas) of Cartenz Peace Ops, accompanied by the finalist of the 2015 Miss Indonesia beauty contest from West Papua, Olvah Alhamid, directly went to Yokatapa Market, Intan Jaya Regency, Friday (6/5).
Both of them had the opportunity to see firsthand the activity of people in the market who came from various villages in Intan Jaya Regency to sell their goods and Papuan handicrafts, such as Noken Bags.
Happiness can be seen from the look on Papuan ladies face when the personnel and Olvah Alhamid interacted with them.
"Mama, what do you sell here, the fruits and vegetables look fresh, I want to buy this, Mama," said Olvah while shopping.
The Head of the Public Relations of Cartenz Peace Ops Task Force added that the activities at the Market was to support the economic growth of Papuans, especially in remote areas.
"In this good opportunity, we can see very busy activities in the market when they sell various kinds of food, both vegetables and Papuan handicrafts, such as traditional noken bags that was made by hand," said Kamal.
He also said that when he visited the location, he and his entourage also bought various kinds of fruits and vegetables which were garden products from various villages in Intan Jaya Regency.
"Both the Chief Unit of the Binmas Task Force, Olvah Alhamid, and other personnel are hunting for passion fruit, oranges, and spinach and placed them in the Noken bag as an effort to support local economy in Papua. We need to support this together," added Kamal.
