Therefore, to create a sense of security and comfort, Riau Police Chief (Kapolda Riau) Inspector General Muhammad Iqbal, S.I.K., M.H., has ordered the officers to guard the mosque for a whole month. The guard is part of the operation Ramadan Lancang Kuning 2022.
“Security at mosques and public places is part of the Ramadan Lancang Kuning 2022 Operation which will last a month, starting from Friday (1/4), for the whole of Riau," said Kapolda Riau in one of his statements, on Sunday (03/04/22).
He said that his members would be present in the courtyard of the mosque when Muslims held the tarawih prayer. They will minimize and prevent potential security breaches. "We are here to prevent security disturbances when people perform tarawih, so they can do their religious activities solemnly," explained the Riau Police Chief.
In addition, the 2022 Lancang Kuning Ramadan Operation also targets to secure the situation during sahur activities, until after the Fajr prayer. Police will also be stationed on roads that residents usually pass around by vehicle.
"We aim to minimize crime activities or fights for example. With this operation we hope there will be no room for criminals," concluded Kapolda Riau.
