Tribratanews.polri.go.id - The Counter-Terrorism Special Detachment (Detachment) 88 of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) explained the role of 16 terrorist suspects from the Indonesian Islamic State (NII) group, who were arrested in West Sumatra. They have the desire to change the ideology of Pancasila with Islamic law.
“They have the intention to overthrow the legitimate government if the Republic of Indonesia is in a state of chaos,” said Head of the Operational Assistance Section (Kabagbanops) of Densus 88, Commissioner Aswin Siregar to reporters, Jakarta, Monday (28/3/2022).
Then, they are also suspected of carrying out various military-style exercises regularly. As well as planning logistical preparations, i.e. weapons.
“They also recruit members massively in the West Sumatra region by involving minors,” said Aswin.
Not only that, but the 16 terrorist suspects also have connections or ties to other terrorist groups in Jakarta, West Java, and Bali areas.
Previously, the arrests of 16 terrorist suspects by Densus 88 occurred in two areas, in Dharmasraya and Tanah Datar, West Sumatra.
