South Kalimantan Police Chief (Kapolda Kalsel) Inspector General Drs. Rikwanto, S.H., M.Hum., said the police have seized 3,075 liters of diesel fuel with a total loss estimated up to Rp 14,182,500. This case took place in Banjarmasin and its surrounding areas. The police arrested eight perpetrators with the initials AS, DA, BU, SA, RS, HY, SU, and AR.
The actions of the perpetrators took place in the districts of Hulu Sungai Selatan, Hulu Sungai Tengah, and Balangan. "They were arrested in different locations and areas," said Kapolda Kalsel.
The Two-Star General explained the method of the perpetrators in doing their criminal acts. He stated that the perpetrators refill repeatedly at several gas stations. The perpetrators then resell it higher than those set by the Government.
"When they went to gas stations, the perpetrators used empty jerry cans and drums and even cars that had modified tanks were used by the perpetrators so they could accommodate a lot of diesel fuel," explained Kapolda Kalsel.
In addition to securing 3,075 liters of diesel fuel and 8 suspects, the police also confiscated other evidence, such as cars and trucks complete with its certificate, purchase receipts, jerry cans, drums, modified tanks, water pumps, and cash.
