Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Several prominent media (Kompas, Tempo, Detik, CNN, Indonesia, CNBC Indonesia, Bisnis Indonesia) wrote news about the lack of continuation in the statement of the Minister of Trade M. Lutfi about the cooking oil mafia.

Previously, Lutfi revealed that the rare and high price of cooking oil for several months was due to the cooking oil mafia. The mafias, he said, smuggled the cooking oil into industries, and even abroad.

Lutfi stated that he and the Food Task Force of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) will continue to track down the whereabouts of the mafia. The Trade Minister had promised the cooking oil mafia suspect would be announced last Monday (21/3/2022). Lutfi also admitted that he had provided data related to the cooking oil mafia practice to the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of Polri so that it could be processed by law.

In a meeting at the House of Representatives (DPR ), the Director-General of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Oke Nurwan, said that the cooking oil mafia suspect had not been announced because the police considered that there was not enough evidence, although the Ministry of Trade considers that the evidence is sufficient.

The National Police Headquarters did state that they were still investigating the alleged cooking oil mafia, which caused the public hard to get the goods and the price skyrocketed. Polri has responded to the alleged cooking oil mafia that had previously been conveyed by Minister Lutfi.

The Food Task Force of Polri has also been actively involved in investigating information about the suspected cooking oil mafia. However, the police are still looking for the truth from the information submitted by the Ministry of Trade.

Polri stated that they would immediately coordinate with the Business Competition and Supervisory Commission (KPPU) regarding the findings of evidence of alleged cartel and cooking oil mafia practices. Polri stated that the results of the KPPU's investigation were new findings regarding the issue of cooking oil, which will be studied for further processes.

Previously, KPPU conveyed that there were allegations of violations in the national sale and distribution of cooking oil in the market by entrepreneurs.

In the future, the Polri will continue their coordination with the KPPU in uncovering this cooking oil case and solving this mafia problem.
